Empowering Through Power Platform: Sharing Knowledge, Inspiring Others, and Rediscovering the Basics

A little over a year ago, at the beginning of 2024, a couple of my colleagues and I had the exciting opportunity to join a project where we created content for an online course called Microsoft Power Platform App Maker. This course is part of the larger Power Platform Study Program, and we were thrilled to collaborate with Kajaani University of Applied Sciences and our awesome team at Bofor. The mission? To equip students with the foundational knowledge and hands-on skills to start building with Microsoft Power Platform. And we were all in!

While we were busy creating the course content and filming introduction videos, one of the organizers approached me with a fantastic opportunity: would I be interested in joining a webinar as a guest speaker, in collaboration with the amazing Mimmit Koodaa program? (Spoiler alert: I said yes!)

For those who may not know, Mimmit Koodaa is a initiative focused on increasing the number of women in tech and software development here in Finland. They do incredible work empowering women in our industry, and I was genuinely honoured to be asked. I said yes with a smile and couldn’t wait to hear more once the webinar was officially scheduled.

Fast forward to the beginning of this year — I was contacted again, and this time the preliminary schedule was ready. Even better, the topic of the webinar would match the course we had previously worked on. Our session would be part of the Skills for Jobs x Mimmit Koodaa series, a lineup of webinars covering the same themes as the broader study program. We were buzzing with excitement!

Together with my colleague Khalid, we jumped right in. We agreed to create the materials and join as guest speakers. Then came the big question: How do you condense such a massive and exciting topic into a powerful one-hour session? It was time to prioritize, plan, and polish our content.

In the end, we decided to give participants a solid overview of building Model-Driven and Canvas apps, a peek into the Power Platform’s security model, and a quick dive into the incredible possibilities offered by Power Automate, Power BI, and AI features in Power Platform.

On April 29th, we finally went live — and what an amazing experience it was! We received positive feedback and heartfelt thanks from attendees.

That day also gave me a valuable reminder. After working with Power Platform for years, so many things come naturally. Tasks that once took effort now flow from muscle memory, and the details can start to feel routine. But when you show something brand new to someone just starting their journey, you realize even the smallest things can spark real excitement.

And that’s the magic of it all. Every now and then, it’s so worth slowing down, appreciating the details, and celebrating the little things. You never know — you might stumble across a new insight or rediscover something that reignites your own passion.
